Gimmel Class

In the beginning, we were friends...

The sudents of the Gimmel class have been together the longest and have become great friends, though they welcome with open arms the addition of new faces!

These students showcase exactly what we are hoping to accomplish at Kol Ami - the feeling of warmth and comfort when you are with your community, and the ability to welcome, with love and compassion, new members. For Jews, often living in the South poses a challenge of isolation. The students in the Gimmel class are excited on Sunday mornings, (after they finally wake-up) to come to school and see their friends.

It's just all about friendship...

This year, our students are learning about living Jewish lives - through life cycle events and the recognition of Israel and Jewish history.  From birth, to b'nei mitzvah, to marriage, and death, our students learn about how these important times of their lives help solidify and remind them of their Jewish-ness.

In Hebrew, our students continue expanding their knowledge through writing and reading blessings and  prayers from our prayerbook.  And, as hard as it is to believe, they are in the beginning stages of preparing for their own bar and bat mitzvot.*

Chosing to have a bar/bat mitzvah is a family decision, not a school one.
